Bicycling Magazine
Best Advice, Bicycling Magazine April 29th, 2008
Thanks to Bicycling Magazine for including me in their June issue.
I hardly consider myself an authority on training and racing as I still have so much to learn and so far to go. However, I am fortunate to be surrounded by people capable of providing me with the “Best Advice”; I happily pass a bit of that along in the “Best Advice” column of the June issue.
Soon,
Lizzer

nice pic
how did you get the title of Roubaix Girl?
April 29th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
Roubaix Girl- When I first started a MySpace page back in 2006 I had just broken up with someone and in short did not want to use my real name in fear of being “found”. I decided to go with “Roubaix Girl” since the classics are my favorite races. The page just kinda went crazy from there…

hotness,
great news on the mag! so cool. one complaint: you are waaaaay hotter in person than in that pic. it’s a great picture; but they definitely toned down the smart-and-smokin-hot nature of the lizzer. oh well; their subscribers have to stay married.
xoxoxoxoxo
ps: awesome to see you last weekend!

Hey, weren’t the Maxim pics hot enough?!
~ We want to appeal to all readers. Liz is beautiful on the inside as well and wanted what she says to come through. Now we can show our kids!

One of my friends is a woman named Monica Fernandez. She grew up in Guatemala and was a party girl there doing the same drinking, smoking, staying out late. She came to Boulder, got into triathlon, and ended up winning the Ultraman (think 3-day Ironman, it’s ridiculous) twice. Reaching a high level of athletic success, finding the ability to conjure so much dedication and discipline when life had previously been so indulgent, that’s probably more impressive to me in a certain sense than the racer who lives a Spartan life from birth… Good on ya’ – keep kickin’ ass…

Saw your pic in the mag, and then read that you like Armin Van Buuren… I was on a bike ride with the wife when I told her that I had found her replacement..
a woman who is beautiful, listens to Armin and races bicycles. That is the trifecta of cool!!

How about something for guys to Support Vanderkitten. The “Manderkitten” link is blank???
May 1st, 2008 at 5:38 am
If we had a Manderkitten link it would be cool to be able to play fantasy racers…kinda like fantasy football. My team would consist of Emilha Fahlin, Rebecca Twigg, Brooke Miller, and…remember Marianne Berglund? And oh, of course Liz H.

Congrats Liz! That is TOO COOL!

favorite line: “if I can force myself to get kitted up, I’m happy within 10 minutes.” I mean, how true is that? When you look good, you ride good (well).

I watched the crit race (with your unfortunate crash) on IBN and saw you off the front for a few laps. Very gutsy to go so early. That was freakin’ awesome! I was over my LT just watching that move! I hope you get well soon and I’ll be following the Vanderkitten team and their future success with much interest. Thanks for putting a human face on cycling.

Congrats! What was it that finally got you to quit smoking? I just can’t get over that hurdle!
May 8th, 2008 at 8:26 am
What’s the point of going off the front so early? Publicity? It doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, but then I’m only a Cat 2…
May 8th, 2008 at 8:37 am
Everyone has different jobs on a team during a specific race. I was responding to mine for the day.
May 8th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
hey liz, I saw this mag today – but bought Pro Cycling instead- and had to laugh. Nice pic! I recall the early MySpace days. I think you stumbled onto my blog, and now I’ve stumbled on yours. Keep on keeping on and all that. Kevin.

Doubt “Cat 2″ is a Cat 2 for it would have known that going off the front early: 1) team tactics; 2) heard the prime bell; 3) promised sponsor some announcing time. One of the main reasons sponsors sponsor us! doh! So hells yeah to publicity! Lucky anonymous is ball-less for I would personally relegate “him” back to Cat 5 status and sentence “him” to 1 solid week of watching “How to Race a Crit.”

My girlfriend was/still is ultra hot looking, but it took her winning national championships before she was on the cover of magazines. How times have changed…all you gotta do is be a hottie and win a few local crits.
May 9th, 2008 at 6:19 pm
Critracing:
Before you “personally” relegate anyone anywhere, please pull your head out of your ass lest you cause a crash and take down the field.
In the race referred to, had you been there you would have seen that there were no VK tactics being employed nor prime bells ringing at the time.
I personally find Liz an intelligent and refreshing character and I’m not a hater. She is a great writer and publishes great content. I just think she’d get more credibility as a racer if she focused more on placing high and less on going off the front for a few seconds for no good reason. But it obviously garners her attention and you can’t argue with that. She seems to be having a great time with it and I’m very happy for her.

Liz..WOW I had to read these comments to see what you were referring to.
You are smart, beautiful and intelligent…riding great is just icing on the cake.
Don’t listen to the negative comments. I think women who ride should be gorgeous as well as able to kick some butt on the races. And you inspire women and girls everywhere that don’t want to shed their femininity just to ride bikes and compete!
Keep on keeping on!
