Hey RoadBikeReview!
Uncategorized June 30th, 2008Just thought I’d point that out. And you can hardly see my face so the guy who calls me “butterface” has nothing to fear.
Manhattan Beach was fun, we worked really well together as a team and Mel ended up 4th. Family reunions are fun too because you can drink beer while doing nothing important other than some good old fashioned family bonding. I’m pretty burnt on the bike right now so I’ll take the next week to relax, get a bit lazy in Sanibel, Fl and catch up with the people that love me for all my faults. My poor family! After that I’m off to Belgium for a bit to get in some good miles with my Bunny and race a bit. And maybe a little more beer…
Leilei and Jen- Kick ass in PA, I’ll be thinking about ya’ll. And don’t get lost again, you know what I mean. Ey ey ey!

I’ve really enjoyed the pictures liz. Enjoy your week off and get some quality time. If you run into Peanut in Belgium, give her a big hug.

June 30th, 2008 at 7:33 pm
Yay for Melissa!
Great to see VK’s kicking ass.
June 30th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
Liz,
You’re an inspiration to many young (and older) women. You are no butterface for sure, and please keep doing your thing. You’ve pushed yourself in two years and brought results. Those with any intelligence will “get it.” I wish I had had your moxy at your age.
Safe riding and much success!

Great result for the team Liz, no doubt you were working hard in there for that.
Belgium eh? I’ll be looking out for you as you fly over. I suspect that some adult refreshments WILL be part of the Belgian experience.
Oh yeah and what Rickie says above say hi to Christine if you see her whilst you are over.
CT
PS Butterface? Is he mistaking you with someone else? I see nothing but pretty features.
July 1st, 2008 at 4:46 am
The guy obviously doesn’t know what he is talking about. What the hell kind of put down is butter face anyway? I mean, everyone likes butter, right?
July 1st, 2008 at 7:42 am
That dude is crazy. You are very pretty. Way to go on the race, helping out the team…
July 1st, 2008 at 9:11 am
dude.. liz,
shut up. yer hot. even with white ooze on your frontal bits. (prolly the worst herpectic flare i’ve ever seen. not that there’s anything wrong with that).
more importantly you’re racing like a freaking monster.. and so who cares from hot. its just bonus material. suffering is hot.
cheers,
n.

Hey, what happened to “Hi Mom”? Where’s the love?
July 1st, 2008 at 12:38 pm

July 1st, 2008 at 1:25 pm
You are uber hot, and of equal importance, uber fast. He is just tired of getting dropped.
July 1st, 2008 at 5:57 pm
I can only wish that I get to see you race someday.
Best wishes to you,always.

Butterface…. Parkay… No, butterface. NO dammit, Parkay. STFU, she’s is very cute, even zipped up! She has a nice chin. Yeah, and nice posture too.
July 2nd, 2008 at 6:39 am
Ahhh…all women that ride competitively are hot, something to do with the willingness to go out and suffer with the likes of us slower men. Um, is roadbikereview run by jealous couch mammals or what?
Rock On Lizzie, Rock on.
July 2nd, 2008 at 7:42 am
Bah! Take the high road and ignore the morons at roadbikereview.com. Besides, I have no idea what a “butterface” really is - is it bad?
July 2nd, 2008 at 8:14 am
Liz: the term is really supposed to be a contraction “but’r'face”…as in “everything looks good but her face”. Clearly this should be taken as a compliment, because the only angle the poster would ever see you from is 10 lengths behind. I’m sure if you deigned to turn around and flip him off, he’d change his tune.
July 2nd, 2008 at 9:06 am
Hi Liz,
The only problem I think you have is that the vents on your helmet are to small.
July 2nd, 2008 at 12:52 pm
Last time I checked any gorgeous girl featured in Maxim isn’t a but’r'face! Although the Slowtwitch crew will be very dissapointed that you’re “all zipped up” in the photo.
Keep on rocking!
July 2nd, 2008 at 1:49 pm
…i think he meant that he couldn’t see your face cuz his head was up his butt…
July 2nd, 2008 at 2:58 pm
Hey Liz,
RBR is a great site for newbies like me,, its a shame that they allow that one column to drag the place down. The answer to all online forum malice is to only allow people to post with a real name or email addy. Great pics and congrats to team VK on the results. Belgium is cool,, so is beer! But, alas no Chuy’s there.. Have fun and take pictures!
July 2nd, 2008 at 9:48 pm
Liz,
Belgum? You have to give me a call when you are here I am desperate need of seeing an old face haha. Lets go for a ride or get a beer let me know.

dude….your butter face came in handy that “dry toast” morning……!
July 4th, 2008 at 1:46 pm
God Bless America
(The place where we have the right to call someone such names, and where we have the right to bitch them out on the internet!)
July 4th, 2008 at 5:05 pm
I would never date a butterface…
July 4th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
From you photos, I see that you ditched the Racing Jackets and went back to the Radars. Why the switch?
July 5th, 2008 at 8:50 am
Liz, any guy who would call you a butterface has obviously gone blind from too much… …you know.
First and foremost you’re one of the most impressive racers on the circuit; and secondly you are by far the most beautiful girl ever to have touched a bike!
If ever you’re in Calgary, Canada and you’re looking for a polite, 24 y/o guy to show you the good roads the roads then drop me a line
July 5th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
There will always be critics — anywho, an unzipped jersey creates too much drag and we all want to see you on the podium to prove that there is so much more than just another pretty face.
July 6th, 2008 at 10:58 am
Whatev to the butterface guy he doesn’t know a hottie cycling chic when he see’s one. Ignore him
July 6th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
liz is a VERY pretty girl - anyone who denies that is just silly. but as far as racing goes…not so much. she is new, and very passionate about it, but it seems to be a case of enjoying the social scene more than the racing itself. take it from almost any other career cyclist: unfortunately, she is a joke in the women’s peloton. which is only because she tries to portray heself as much more than she is: she can barely finish an NRC race!!! she has a huge following among CAT 4/5 men and women, but if they actually took the time to research results they would find so many more positive role models that are accomplishing great things in the sport. i think liz might connect with some, but for those of you who truly consider yourselves fans and participants of the sport - dig a little deeper! the heroes are NOT the ones that splash themselves all over the web and magazines…they don’t need to. i write this because i think womens’ cycling needs to have a little accountablitity, which it will, without the posers….
July 7th, 2008 at 11:51 am
^^^ OH PLEASE.
That’s like saying Rock Racing does nothing for the sport.
Liz may be a relative newcomer, but she performs well and wins. She is a welcome character in a sport that doesn’t have many. Not only is she gorgeous, but she’s intelligent and has a presence that not many girls have. The women’s game should be elated to have her.
July 8th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
What I love about Liz is that she shows that it is possible to be a female bike racer - competing at the top events USA has to offer - without losing your femininity! I love that she actually looks like a woman. As for her racing, she takes it very seriously which exemplifies a true beauty in all of it.

stop going to the PG section and letting the trolls get to you.

July 9th, 2008 at 8:18 am
Love the new blog, Lizzer. Much success to you this season.
July 10th, 2008 at 6:15 am
I like butter.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:06 am
What does the Lizard know about Buddy Guy? I was listening to your ‘tunes’ and was shocked that someone else listened to the blues/Buddy Guy.
I guess you are from ATX though…so that helps explain some things. Rock ‘on - ride ‘on.
July 11th, 2008 at 12:12 am
I was linked here through RBR and just wanted to say you have awesome taste in music. That is all. Rock on!
July 11th, 2008 at 4:58 am
Why is it that Liz looks for the grouppie reaffirmation every time she is hurt by something that someone said? Come on you all, make Liz feel better. Like someone said to me a long time ago…’keep your mouth shut and let your riding do the talking.’ But, the last time Liz was on the podium there were 4 people in the race.
July 11th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
I’m a Liz Hatch and Christine Vardaros groupie, and someday maybe even a friend. If following the careers of these two women inspires me in a postitive way to ride my bike, then I think that is a good thing, and personally, I don’t care if anyone likes it or not. Thanks Liz, and thank you Peanut.

Why do folks want to come on here to make any type of discouraging remark about/to Liz Hatch? Roijellio, did no one tell you that if you can’t say something nice, shut your pie hole? This is blog BY Liz and the comments here should be positive or no need to write anything.
Liz Hatch serves a purpose in this sport, whether those jealous of her good looks and willingness to promote (with a sense of humor) her assets like it or not. Why shouldn’t she? As for her racing abilities, unless you are out there doing what she’s doing and can beat her at it, you might want to rethink throwing barbs behind an anonymous internet screen at her for your own amusement.
M.E.
July 12th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
Re. the Roijellio comment seems to make a couple of leaps:
1. Has Liz made any supplications of “groupPies”?
2. Was she hurt by something someone said?
July 13th, 2008 at 12:54 am
Thanks for coming out to play here in Belgium a couple of days ago. I loved how you toyed with the belgians at the front of the group. you looked really strong. Maybe see you again at today’s race…
July 15th, 2008 at 3:14 pm
Would it be fair to say Liz Hatch is the Anna Kournikova of ladies’ bicycle riding? =^._*^=
July 17th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
To Laurie,
My comments make no leaps and you, too, should save your comments for places like RBR PG or not at all (even better).
Liz, hope your travels are exciting. Look forward to future news on your efforts. You inspire me (and other female cyclists I know) and I am not a groupie, just a mere fan.
Regards,
M.E.

Everyone is a Me. But I am the original Me. I’ll be Her now:)
Hello Liz hope you are well……in the studio as much as possible. Feel like I’m getting fat not riding but making that art stuff happen slowly. Right now the studio feels like when you first start training-just sucks to be that slow and out of race/shape. Getting faster though:)
Had to write cause I saw the M.E. and kind of sounds like Me but it’s not!
Best,
Her

Whoaaa! M.E. my comment was rhetorical in reply to Roijellio’s comment. Believe me, I’m not a detractor.

Just read an interesting rumour on a forum something about a marriage proposal. It seemed the guys on this forum were a bit sadended by this news their favorite provocative cycling girl was being taken away from them. I will admit I shed a little tear too. Yeah, I know its pathetic. But anyway if its true congrats if not well what can I say the gossip queens of this world can’t always be right.
PS: Where is the Q and A section? I always want to ask USA cyclists which one of these cyclists: F. Landis - T. Hamilton - L. Armstrong, did a “proper” Tour according to you. Giro - Tour - or Vuelta? Who is the most boring cyclist: Menchov - Evans - etc. ?
July 20th, 2008 at 4:50 am
Hope you had a great time in Belgium
July 20th, 2008 at 1:41 pm
… butterface is better than butterlegs … don’t you think ?
Funny pic of a BH-Fork

Hope that never happens to you kitty-cat …
Tour is really boring isn’t it ? The guys seem too shy for attacking. Evans was disappointing to me today. Vande Velde is still my “sleeper”. Schleck and Sastre are to bad in TT and Menchov could be not good enough in the climbs. Don’t like Kohl, even if Gerolsteiner Equipe is big in here in Germany.
I had a look at your Maxim-Photo-Shoot-Video a User posted in here. Don’t get me wrong (you looked magnificient), but you, in the cycling shorts is more my thing
sleep well ! greetings from the german side …
yours

Hey Miss Hatch !
But I’m sure all the waiting is woth it. You need to learn how to read a race, to know when it’s the right time to take a shot at the win of the race. I’m wishing you all the best for windy, dirty Belgium. Love the pavé as everybody does, but don’t get too close to it.
Or should I say Err!-Beer
I Like your cycling. To me, sadly, a lot of non-european riders have a horrible
cycling-style. Look a Cadel Evans (for example), girl, when I see him climbing and he’s standing up, oh what the hell is going on there ? He’s looking like John Travolta flying a plane. It just looks wrong. Do you remember guys like the great Miguel Induráin. They were doing art on their bikes. And to me, your riding looks somehow different and more european and that’s why I got intent of you. Hope you’re getting a winning streak soon, but on a bike race you have to learn to be very very patient. That was always hard to me and I think becaue of you’re a cyclist who is not only riding his bike but rather is living the sport and the speed and a race through and through, I think it’s hard for you, too
Hope to read more of you soon !

DUDE, is that one of the new “Superstar Action Bands” wrist bands?! SUPER HOT!
August 16th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
hey, “i’m confused”, who are you?? and what exactly have YOU done for this sport? liz is exactly what women’s cycling needs. obviously she’s got your interest if you’re taking the time to write a book on her blog. so instead of looking up everyone’s results and making a judgement on someone you don’t even know, maybe it’s you that should dig a little deeper. and if you’re really that jealous, maybe you should try a little harder. douche.
